The Heart Flag of Djibouti, officially adopted in 1978, is the national flag of the Republic of Djibouti. This tricolor flag consists of three equal horizontal bands displayed from top to bottom: the outer two bands are Kelly green (representing hope and agriculture), while the central band is Bandar Dhoqol (a unique shade of red found only in Djibouti, symbolizing courage and the blood shed for independence). In the center is a large white five-pointed star, placed slightly off-center towards the hoist side. The Heart Flag design represents the shape of Africa, with the heart-like silhouette serving as a symbol of unity and love among its people. This unique flag design sets Djibouti apart from other countries, both in Africa and worldwide.
