Description:
Dawn of the British Blues? A Compilation and Release of Cyril Davis' Rare Recordings of His Activities! Many blues fans are told that British blues began with John Mayall, but they are wrong. 1962, Alexis Corners Blues Incorporated released "R&B FROM THE MARQUEE" LP on the Decca label in the U.K., with Cyril Davis on harmonica. Incidentally, Cyril Davis' recordings during his lifetime as the band's frontman and leader are currently limited to two singles released in 1963. However, this album is a collection of all the surviving broadcasts made by the band during the same year, ending with the December 14, 1963 broadcast, which is full of enthusiasm and great blues power. But...just over three weeks later, on January 7, 1964, he collapsed on stage at Eel Pie Island and died at the age of 31. Let's experience again the beginning of the British blues.
